RT!
June 25th, 2008When I first started this comic I was faced with a real dilemma. I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to do A) a daily comic strip or B) a weekly, page-format comic. I eventually decided to go with the strip, but now, a couple months later, I think I should have gone the other way. So I’m going to. I relaunching the strip in the page format I wanted to do from the start. It’ll be a little more dramatic and flow a LOT better. When this story first started kicking around in my head it was as a monthly book that was pure adventure and space fun, but somewhere along the line it was warped into a daily humor strip and the story suffered for it.
Besides the story changes I think I generally need to spend less time on webcomics. Not that this isn’t important to me, because it is, but when I’ve pictured my place in the world of comics it has always been as someone who creates books and tells lots of stories that have a beginning and an end, most of them as books. I love webcomics and I read them every day, but I think I got swept up in all the things I love about them and I let that warp some of my own ideas. I had written a couple stories and I found myself with no time to illustrate them because I was working on RT! every moment I wasn’t at my full time job.
So I’m starting the story over, in it’s original conception. It’ll update on Tuesdays in a new format, with new (original concept) characters. The new comic will have more story per comic, since I won’t be trying to fit jokes into every strip. All in all this is a better fit for me and for this story and I want to thank you for your support so far and hope you stick around for the new and improved RT! this coming Tuesday.
