I was in NY all weekend for the Comic Con and I had a good time. The hotels were too expensive so I ended up staying in a hostel and hanging out with some fine foreign folks (FFF for short). Me and the FFF along with Will Clark hung out on the stoop all night and had a good time. At the Con I had a good talk with Brad Guigar of Evil Inc. and the ever so popular “How To Make Webcomics“. I also attended a panel in which Brad, to everyone’s amusement, had a hard time keeping his emotion from showing on his face. The topic…Comic Strips in the 21st Century. Think back to the Webcomics Weekly podcast #29 (Web vs. Print) and you’ll have a good idea of how things went. Lots of misunderstanding and fear of this new, strange tool they call the web. All in all I have to say the highlight of the entire show happened when I was hanging out in the professionals lounge. The walls of the lounge are made of those standard convention curtain walls and it had some couches and water and whatnot. So I’m sitting there and instead of using the entrance to the lounge, Lou Ferrigno smashes through the curtain wall and heads towards the water cooler. After grabbing the entire jug of Poland Spring water and sucking it dry he smashed his way out through another set of curtains as only the Incredible Hulk could do*.
*Slight exaggeration.
